LOCAL COUNTRY ARTISTS HOOK-UP WITH CRACKERBARREL RESTAURANTSWe announced on June 10, that the NTCMA and the Oak Tree Opry will provide talent for a promotion at the Crackerbarrel Restaurant in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on July 12, 10am-7pm. We hope to be able to get a foot in the door, by providing local and regional recording artists an opportunity to have their product for sale in the Crackerbarrel Store. This is a first-time attempt, and if it works for us on July 12, we hope it will not only work well at other locations, but that good local acts will be able to get their product in the store as well. Entertainers selected for this first-time approach is: Rick & Harriette Andersen from Underwood, Iowa (backing artists); Mindy Hunke (a champion Iowa fiddler); John & Susan McNeill from South Dakota (creators of the Dakota Opry and performers at the Gayville SD Opry); Ed & Kathy Dovell keyboard, guitar, vocalists from Omaha; Francis Hahn (retired CIA agent) who wrote songs for Johnny Cash; Peter Paul & Morrie from Omaha, a delightful folk trio still carrying on that tradition; Jackie Shewey a Nebraska performer of Patsy Cline songs and a great songwriter; Lee Muller another singer/songwriter from Americus, Kansas; Marge Lund a supurb yodeler and vocalist from Anita, Iowa; Recycled String Band a great 30's and 40's band from Red Oak, Iowa; Roger Davis a champion Council Bluffs fiddler; and Bob & Sheila Everhart world travelers and recording artists for the Smithsonian Institute. The Crackerbarrel Rural Roots Music Fest takes place July 12, a their Lake Manawa store, 10am-7pm. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the day with us. |
